Each Saturday, Catholic Forum brings you a news update from The Dialog, the official news source for the Diocese of Wilmington, and an interview segment of about 21 minutes in length. Catholic Forum is the longest-running Catholic talk show on radio, having begun in 1939 on a radio station in Wilmington, Delaware. It is now heard every Saturday afternoon at 1:30 on Relevant Radio 640 and is heard in the Philadelphia and South Jersey area as well as throughout the State of Delaware and Maryland's Eastern Shore. As soon as it finishes airing on the radio, a new program podcast debuts at 2:00 p.m. ET each Saturday afternoon. Catholic Forum is a production of the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington

First up is the Executive Director of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wilmington, Ms. Richelle Vible who will tell us how they are helping the most vulnerable people of Delaware and Maryland's Eastern Shore during this pandemic. Then, Father Jim Kirk, Pastor of St. Mary Magdalen Church and Director of the Office of Worship for the Diocese of Wilmington will talk about the new Coronavirus Novena that will bring us all together in prayer for the end of this pandemic.

On this episode of Catholic Forum, after a brief introduction, the Saint Elizabeth High School drama class, under the direction of Mr. Jeff Dietzler, Director of Performing Arts, will present the Passion of Jesus, according to St. Matthew. Due to schools being closed and social-distancing guidelines, each student recorded their part digitally and the production was edited and assembled by Mr. Dietzler.

On this episode of Catholic Forum, after a brief introduction, the Gospel for the Fourth  Sunday of Lent, and a musical selection from the CD Catholic Treasures, we will talk to Father William Saunders, author of the book, “Celebrating a Holy Catholic Easter: A Guide to the Customs and Devotions of Lent and the Season of Christ’s Resurrection.” The book not only provides the historical roots of traditions, but also has spiritual reflections and suggestions for practices. All of the major events of Holy Week are included, so that families can better appreciate the significance of these traditions.  Also, we will learn about Fr. Marie Eugene, another one of Father Rich Jasper’s Modern Day Witnesses.

Catholic Forum FLASHBACK features interesting interviews from past Catholic Forum programs. This interview that aired in January 2002, features Father Stan Fortuna. Father is a Roman Catholic priest ordained on December 8, 1990, and one of the eight founding members of the Community of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal (an order established in the Archdiocese of New York under the jurisdiction of John Cardinal O'Connor). Prior to his conversion, Fr. Stan was a professional jazz musician who studied with the legendary Lennie Tristano (the ‘father of improvisational jazz’).

We are getting ready for Lent on this episode of Catholic Forum. After a brief introduction, the Gospel for the Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time, and some music from Paul Tate's "Rejoice!" CD, we will talk with popular Catholic writer and speaker, Gary Zimak about his best-selling book, "Give Up Worry for Lent: 40 Days to Finding Peace in Christ." In it, Gary combines practical spirituality, daily scripture readings, and simple action steps to help you kick the worry habit as part of your Lenten renewal. You will learn how to let go of the anxiety-producing areas of life in order to find the lasting peace that comes from trusting God.

Also, we will learn about Father Paul Atkinson, who was a teacher and inspiration to Father Rich Jasper, on this installment of Modern Day Witness.
